Game on! Mission Bay Parks offers high-quality sporting facilities open to all on the northwestern end Mission Creek Park including courts for basketball, sand volleyball and tennis.
There's even a boat launch for water craft access to Mission Creek, McCovey Cove, and the Bay beyond. Sports courts are available for league play or private reservations through Mission Bay Parks Management.
Mission Bay Parks | Basketball
Basketball

Hoop it up! Mission Creek Park has one full-and two half-courts for public use. Open 6am-10pm. The full court has stadium lighting on demand at night. Located near 401 Berry Street.

There’s a “first come/first serve” policy with a maximum use of 45 minutes for any group when other players are waiting.

  • Courts open | 6am—10pm
  • No dogs, bicycles, skateboards or roller-skates
  • No food or glass containers allowed on courts
  • No climbing on sports equipment
  • Please respect your neighbors
  • No loud or obscene language
  • Players must wear tennis shoes at all times
  • Adhere to the first come, first serve rule
  • Play time limited to 45 mins when others waiting
  • Courts close at 10 pm + lights turn off
  • Organized or league games must be authorized by Mission Bay Park System

Reservations | Fees


  • Full basketball court | $50 per hour
  • Half basketball court | $25 per hour
  • 2 hour minimum for rentals
  • 4 hour maximum use time per person | event
  • Use fees apply for league + private group use
  • Additional fees may apply depending on event

Tennis

Tennis anyone? Mission Creek Park has one hard-surface tennis court for public use. It’s located near 451 Berry Street at the northwestern end of Mission Creek. Open 6am-10pm.

The tennis court has stadium lighting on demand at night. There’s a “first come/first serve” policy with a maximum of 30 minutes of play for singles or doubles when other players are waiting.

Mission Creek Park | Boating
Boating

Mission Creek boat launch, located at the northwestern end near 401 Berry Street, provides access for kayaks, standup paddling and small non-motorized boats. Open 6am-10pm. Paddle by houseboats, homes and parks, around McCovey Cove next to AT&T Park, or into the Bay.

The estuary wetland and wildlife habitat area is also an active boating area. Currents can be strong. Paddle happy, and paddle safe.

Boat Launch Rules + Regulations


  • All watercraft must be equipped with a least one United Stated Coast Guard Approved personal floatation device in usable condition for each person on the boat
  • Children under 12 years of age or younger must wear a personal floatation device
  • Open | 6am—10pm
  • Non-motorized watercraft only
  • No attendant on duty
  • Ramp is slippery
  • Do not tie off to railings or piles
  • No disposal of debris into bay
  • Do not feed wildlife
  • Use of alcohol is prohibited
  • No fishing, swimming or diving from launch
  • Impaired vertical clearance under bridges at high tide
  • Speed limit 5 MPH within 500 feet of shoreline
  • Anchoring is prohibited
  • No unattended vessels
  • Unattended vessels subject to towing and storage fees at owner's expense
  • No washing of boats

  • A special events permit issued by the Park Property Management is required for any individual or group wishing to conduct an organized water sports activity or special event
  • Boat launch is utilized by the UCSF Outdoor Programming which conducts kayaking and paddle boarding classes for the general public and private groups
  • UCSF offers a limited amount of free classes for youth programs in San Francisco. Contact UCSF to learn more 415.476.2078

Mission Creek Parks | Walk+Run+Bike
Walk+Run+Bike

Use foot or peddle power around MBP. Our system of trails and routes expands as new parks and places are added to Mission Bay. Current options include:
Mission Bay Commons Loop | About 1/3 mile walk/run around landscaped lawns and a popular place to picnic or meet neighbors and co-workers.
Mission Creek Loop | About a 1¼ mile walk/run around beautiful Mission Creek through landscaped lawns, trees, residential areas and open spaces. You’ll go by sports courts, dog play area and bird watching overlooks. The Esplanade at 5th St. is a great place to enjoy sunrises and sunsets.
Bike | Bike routes continue to expand throughout Mission Bay. We suggest peddling along the Bay Trail that hugs the waterfront.
